The laneway is located in the city centre behind Martin Place and George Street and is home to the City Recital Hall, restaurants and cafés. A striking feature, is the installation of suspended birdcages above the laneway, called ‘Forgotten Songs’. The artwork commemorates the birds that inhabited the area along the Tank Stream before they became extinct.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vcex_heading text=”Project Design Brief” tag=”h2″ font_weight=”semibold” font_size=”1.154em” css=”.vc_custom_1534997838718{margin-bottom: 15px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1582265933857{padding-bottom: 15px !important;}”]The project brief included upgrading the streetscape and installing a new stormwater drainage system that harmonised with the historical elements in the laneway such as iron, steel and granite. The aim of the project was to make pedestrians a priority while also creating shared zones for service vehicles.
