Recently the NSW Roads and Maritime Services completed upgrades to the highway at Maitland costing $45 million. The aim of the project was to create an efficient and reliable transport corridor to cater for the increasing population growth in the area and improve road safety. The upgrade included two new roundabouts at Maitland; one was installed near the hospital at High Street and the other near the railway station at Church Street, which also included a two lane eastbound bridge over the roundabout[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vcex_heading text=”Project Design Brief” tag=”h2″ font_weight=”semibold” font_size=”1.154em” css=”.vc_custom_1534997838718{margin-bottom: 15px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1769480474645{padding-bottom: 15px !important;}”]Designers needed to increase traffic capacity through the Church Street roundabout and were restricted by the amount of reclaimed land available for the extra lane.
