The project objective was to improve safety and increase capacity during peak times. A key part of the safety upgrade was the installation of centre medians to separate traffic.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vcex_heading text=”Project Design Brief” tag=”h2″ font_weight=”semibold” font_size=”1.154em” css=”.vc_custom_1534997838718{margin-bottom: 15px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1603767244407{padding-bottom: 15px !important;}”]Designers incorporated some super elevated road sections to follow the natural topography of the site. This restricted the shoulder widths of the carriageway and therefore a continuous capture inlet drainage system was required to ensure all run off could be removed effectively.[/vc_column_text][vcex_heading text=”ACO’s Solution” tag=”h2″ font_weight=”semibold” font_size=”1.154em” css=”.vc_custom_1534997885619{margin-bottom: 15px !important;}”][vc_column_text]

  • ACO’s Technical Services team assisted designers with hydraulic performance data of the system, including slot intake capacities

  • KerbDrain transforms kerbs into continuous capture inlets requiring minimal excavation
  • KerbDrain’s compact design fits neatly in the shoulder of the carriageway
  • The 500mm length allowed for easy installation around the curved medians
  • Installing KerbDrain reduced the cost compared to conventional kerb inlet drainage, due to fewer pits and pipes resulting in less excavation
